Progress is being made on the first stage of the Roma Saleyards Improvement Plan with the first of 1,000 post holes dug onsite over the past few weeks.
These post holes are for the new selling pens and drafts, which will be constructed on the eastern side of the yards and Councillor Peter Flynn, Portfolio Chair for Roma Saleyards is in the groove.
He says now that the new workshop has been completed by Brett Pollock Constructions Pty Ltd, construction of the new selling pens and drafts is in full swing.
“With the improvements set to increase productivity, reduce cattle movements and improve cattle flow within the facility, we are looking forward to the completion of these new pens and drafts.”
Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe is also shovelling praise.
“I applaud the Maranoa Regional Council on getting these important works underway which will ultimately benefit the entire community.”
Completion of Stage 1 is anticipated to be in February 2019 (weather permitting).
The total cost of the Roma Saleyards Improvement Plan – Stage 1 project is approximately $2.173 million.
