Australia Flag

Australia Day is fast approaching with celebrations already set in place for Maranoa, making this year’s festivities a big one!

On Tuesday 26 January, the party never stops with countless events to attend in Roma, Injune, Mitchell, Surat and Wallumbilla.

Here are some ideas to help make your Australia Day unforgettable!

If you’re in Roma, kick off the morning with the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship ceremony at the Roma Cultural Centre, starting at 9am. Enjoy some cake and morning tea before heading over to Denise Spencer Pool for a dip and Aussie BBQ lunch.

At Injune, get ready for a day of family pool games and relays at the Injune Swimming Pool from 3pm. Relax in the evening to some live music by Melody Carroll with a cold drink in hand.

Mitchell has your Australia Day morning covered with a big breakfast at the Great Artesian Spa Complex starting at 7am. After the Australia Day Awards at Mitchell Shire Hall, enjoy an afternoon of cricket, face painting and jumping castles at the Mitchell Memorial Swimming Pool.

If you enjoy long walks with the family, then Surat is the place to be this Australia Day! The Surat River Walk kicks off at 8am with Bush Poet Marco Gliori making an appearance in the afternoon.

Wallumbilla has an action-packed day planned for the whole family! Head on over to Wallumbilla Showgrounds and start the day with a seven-a-side cricket competition and a BBQ brunch to keep you going.
