Big Red Bash, Birdsville

As the traffic on our highways and roads picks up as hordes head west for the Big Red Bash, the warning is out.

Senior Constable Rob Edwards says to ensure that everyone gets to and returns to their home from this years’ Big Red Bash in Birdsville safely be aware that Windorah Police will once again be targeting the Fatal Five;

• Speed;
• Drink and drug driving;
• Distraction;
• Fatigue; and
• Seatbelts.

“Between Birdsville and Windorah, there is approximately 280kms of unsealed road. It is vitality important that people ensure that their vehicles are in a road worthy condition.”

“It would also be a good idea to carry two spare tyres as there are no service stations or garages between the two towns.”

And a heads up for tourists – There is no mobile phone coverage once you get out of Windorah.
