Here’s a quick look at the key issues discussed at yesterday’s Maranoa Council meeting:
• Customer Request Policy
With the implementation of a new Customer Request System about to occur, Council adopted the new Customer Request Policy, incorporating a new Customer Service Charter, with the aim of improving processes and communication.
Council approved the formation of a Budget Submission and Financial Planning Standing Committee, to enable all elected members to work collaboratively towards this year’s budget, to ensure the best outcomes for our region.
• Drought Funding
Department of Communities Council approved for an application to be made to the Department of Communities for drought funding, for $40,000 in flexible financial hardship funds and $90,000 for social events.
• Sunset Way Tourist Drive Project
Council received and noted the progress report on the Sunset Way Tourist Drive Project (Tara to Surat).
• Netball Court Project
Update Council approved amendments to the project at a cost of $110,000. Key stakeholders and sub users will be contacted about these changes and future works.
• Surat Raw Water Usage Update
Council resolved that the Surat Town and Surrounds Team will set the majority of Council facilities to be watered between 11pm and 3am to allow adequate pressure for residents to water during their designated watering days and times.
• Roma Saleyards
Council endorsed the new market report template and TV advertisements for the Saleyards and will liaise with Roma agents and the Advisory Committee for proofing before use commences.
• Tender for Airport Screening
MSS Security Pty Ltd were chosen as the successful tender for Aviation Screening Services at the Roma Airport.
