Maranoa Regional Council will be implementing new control measures around the Stage 2A Flood Mitigation Project to increase road safety for all motorists, through additional road signage, variable message signs and tree clearing.
In addition to the give way signs previously installed at the intersection of Miscamble Street East and Short Street, Thursday, 14 June 2018 Council will be closing the gates on Ashburn Crossing (Miscamble Street East) during the project’s hours of operation.
Since the commencement of the project, traffic in the area has increased by up to eight times with approximately an extra 840 truck movements per day, as haul trucks enter and exit the work site.
Council says the gates will only be closed during work hours, generally between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday for approximately 13 weeks (weather permitting).
Council is also working with the Roma Police to help with warning and enforcement of the existing and new control measures.
Council says it has introduced the new control measures to ensure the safety of both the road users and workers on the Stage 2A Project.
