The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Local Fire Ban is still in place for the Maranoa today and Maranoa Council is asking all to continue to exercise caution regarding fires.
A prohibition on lighting fires in the open will be in place until midnight tonight (4 December 2018).
All Permits to Light Fire previously issued in the Maranoa area are hereby cancelled (subject to exemptions – visit www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au for exemptions that may apply).
If you see an unattended fire, please report it immediately to Triple Zero (000).
The sooner QFES can attend the scene, the better. Smoke from bushfires burning around the State is expected to come across the Maranoa region.
People with respiratory issues should stay indoors with windows and doors closed and avoid vigorous exercise.
If you are experiencing any adverse reactions to the smoke, such as shortness of breath, prolonged coughing or wheezing, seek medical advice. If operating an air-conditioner during smoky conditions, switch it to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce smoke coming into your home.
