Flexible Financial Hardship Funding Exhausted

Maranoa Regional Council says residents need to be aware that the funding received by Council from the Queensland State Government’s Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services to support those affected by drought has now been exhausted.

However, Council says if people are drought affected and in need of financial assistance, residents can to apply for assistance of up to $5,000 from the Queensland Country Women’s Association.

The organisation is distributing funds given by the generous Australian community, collected by the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Appeal ‘Help Aussie Farmers’.

Councillor Janelle Stanford, Portfolio Chair for Community and Social Services says those in need of financial and emotional support are encouraged to get in touch with the relevant organisations and agencies.

Here’s what to do:
• Go online at qcwa.org.au/what-we-do/public-rural-crisis-fund, or
• Call the Queensland Country Women’s Association for support on 3026 1220.

“A number of organisations and government agencies are providing support to those in need during these dry times – please do not hesitate to get in contact with them,”
