The countdown is on for the Food & Fire Festival, coming to Roma this Saturday.
The 5th annual festival will showcase a fantastic line up of food and entertainment, with plenty to see and do for all ages.
Entertainment highlights include The Twine, Tamika Taylour, The Vernons, the Samba Blisstas, Scared Circus Entertainment, Venice of Fire, St John’s Stage Traffic, and 2PH Tongan.
Celebrity Chef Darren Robertson, who has appeared on numerous cooking shows and owns two restaurants, will be showing crowds how to cook in the outdoors with fresh and seasonal ingredients.
There will be market stalls selling a variety of international cuisines to suit everyone’s tastes, including Indian food and kebabs, Brazilian food, burgers, fish and chips, twisted and hot baked potatoes, candy and liquorice. Stalls will also feature local products for sale, from woodwork and lavender products to jewellery, hand crafted giftware and spices.
New to this year’s festival is an art competition, open to all ages and with prize money for winners.
The Food & Fire Festival was started in 2008 to observe the 100th anniversary of the Great Fire of 1908, and has since celebrated the oil and gas industry that have long prospered in the area.
The festival is on from 3-9 pm on Saturday, September 12, at Bassett Park, Northern Road, Roma. Entry is free, and everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or chair to sit on.
