FRR Grants Flow West

The South West and Central West have picked up a share of more than $1.2 million of grants in the latest round from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

The grants, are funded through the collaboration of more than 15 donors from government, philanthropy, business and individuals, including the Australian Government which committed $15 M to be distributed over three years to drought affected areas.


The Charleville Show Society picks up $9,900 for the presentation of the Roof Top Wild West Spectacular at this years’ Charleville Show.

The Charleville Airfield and WW 2 organisation has been granted $20,000 for renovation works on the old aviation terminal as part of its preparation to become a museum.

The Mungallala Progress and Sporting Association receives $10,689 towards shade sails at the open-air gym.

Yaraka Sports and Progress is set to receive $13,000 for maintenance of its troop carrier vehicle.

The Red Ridge organisation receives $60,000 to conduct the Dress the Central West program of workshops and free cultural events in Winton, Longreach, Barcaldine and Blackall.

Topology receives $10,000 for the staging of 12 art workshops, a 4 -day bootcamp and free community performance.

The Eromanga Outback Gondwana Foundation will receive $20,00 towards the fit out of a kitchen and laundry facilities.

The Alpha Show Society also picks up $17,620.

FRRR CEO, Natalie Egleton, says the expanded program received more than 200 inquiries.

“This is the first call for applications from across the country and we received inquiries from four states, confirming the reach of this drought. Not surprisingly, most were from NSW and Queensland.”

Ms Egelton says groups in drought-affected areas are encouraged to consider applying for funding.

The cut-off date for the next batch of applications to be considered is 20 February, but groups can apply at any time.
