Roma-based specialized manufacturer Flemings Welding Service is set to become more internationally competitive, after receiving a $200,000-plus State Government grant to install state-of- the-art surface finishing equipment.
Flemings Welding Services provides specialized welding and allied services to the oil and gas industry, an industry that demands all piping and fabrication be built to exact specifications.
The new equipment will enable the company to improve operational efficiency and move into areas of service that have previously not been available in the region.
The funds, matched dollar for dollar by the company have been granted as part of the Queensland’s $20 million manufacturing sector incentive, “Made in Queensland program” which offers matching grants of between $50,000 and $2.5 million to manufacturers looking to adopt innovative processes and technologies.
State Development Minister Anthony Lynham the industry will now have access to the manufacturing processes they need.
“And their 31 employees will have secure, highly-skilled jobs into the future and the installation of this specialist equipment will allow Flemings to improve operational efficiency and invest in certified and highly trained people.”
