Injune sewage plant back up to scratch

Sewage can be a stinky subject, but it is good news in Injune.

A vital infrastructure upgrade is now complete, with Injune’s Sewage Treatment Plant receiving a $611,000 overhaul to ensure it continues to operate well into the future.

Constructed 50 years ago, these vital upgrades have modernised the operational systems and ensure compliance with today’s environmental and workplace health and safety standards.

The project involved several capital upgrades to the facility including the installation of a receiving manhole, construction of an inlet automated screen/grit collection chamber, new sludge drying beds, drainage and evaporation ponds as well as a new security fence.

The existing parts of the facility also saw some remediation works with desilting of lagoons completed.

Through this investment, these modifications and improvements will accommodate Injune’s population into the future and facilitate the reduction of ongoing costs of the plant.
