The Maranoa Netball Precinct is set to open this weekend and Maranoa Regional Council says this relay is an opportunity for a once in a lifetime celebration.
With construction of the netball facility funded by the Queensland Government and Maranoa Regional Council it boasts eight netball courts with a superior cushioned surface, clubhouse, seating, paths and lighting.
The event will also include the dedication of the Martine Waldron Clubhouse, in memory of Martine’s dedication and commitment to netball in the Maranoa.
Councillor Peter Flynn, Portfolio Chair for Youth, Recreation and Sport says the precinct will be a great asset for the whole region.
“Built by local builder Brett Pollock Constructions Pty Ltd, Council is excited to see the wonderful opportunities this major investment in sport presents to local netballers across the Maranoa.”
“Council’s commitment to supporting sport and recreation is reflected in the construction of this fantastic facility, which is set to bring netballers from far and wide to our region.”
“I encourage residents and current and former netballers to come along to the opening and check out this state-of-the-art facility.”
The Queensland Government provided $850,000 to Maranoa Regional Council to fund the construction of The Maranoa Netball Precinct while Maranoa Regional Council provided an additional $483,873 toward the facility.
Maranoa Regional Council has also completed ancillary works, incorporating road and drainage works for the site, with a contribution from Santos LTD of $45,000.
