Lock up your car – Vehicle Security, Roma

Roma Police would like to remind all motorists to secure their vehicles to deter opportunistic thieves.

Senior Constable Dale Kenna says that from experience, Police know that when we make it easy for criminals, they tend to return and tend to pass information onto associates.

“There are a few simple things that you can do to help prevent your vehicles and/or your valuables being stolen from vehicles-Always lock the doors and ensure windows are fully closed; don’t have valuables on display; don’t park vehicles in vulnerable positions; avoid parking in isolated or dark areas; and use anti-theft devices for example, steering locks, alarms, engine immobilisers etc”.

“Always place valuables in the boot, glove box, centre console or under blankets so thieves aren’t tempted to target your vehicle and don’t leave keys under the seat, under wheel arches or in the ignition.”

Roma Police say they will continue to focus patrols to reduce these types of offences and motorists should report any suspicious behaviour, suspicious vehicles, or any other unusual occurrence to police or Crime Stoppers.
