Member for Warrego Ann Leahy is encouraging local groups and clubs to have a good look at the “The Get Playing Places and Spaces” sport funding program which opens on 6th June 2017.

“Eligible organisations can apply for funding of up to $150,000,GST exclusive.”

Ms Leahy says organisations normally need to contribute a minimum of 20% to the total eligible project costs but under disaster declared Local Government Areas, like Maranoa and Western Downs Council areas this does not apply for this round.

“It is important to note that organisations in these two Local Government areas WILL NOT be required to contribute to the project unless the total project cost is above the maximum department contribution.”

“This is due to the natural disaster declarations associated with Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding events.”

Eligible Projects must be a new, upgraded or a replacement infrastructure development that supports participation in sport and active recreation to be eligible for funding.
Eligible organisations can only apply for one project.

The new Sport and Recreation Grant Registration Portal must be used to apply.

Applicants must register in the new portal if they have an existing project or wish to apply for funding. It is recommended that they register as soon as possible to be able to start an application:
