As Stage 2 of the Roma flood mitigation works step up there’ll be some permanent road closures from mid-July in Roma.
Maranoa Regional Council says residents can expect the permanent road closure to all traffic on sections of Short Street and George Street East in Roma from Friday,13 July.
The purpose of the closure is to allow for the construction and operation of the Eastern Diversion Channel, a key part of Stage 2 A of the Roma Flood Mitigation Project.
Council says for traffic management purposes, cul-de-sacs and signage will be installed in the coming weeks on roads where access will no longer be available.
Through traffic from George Street East will divert to Miscamble Street East or the Warrego Highway and traffic from Short Street will divert to Clayton Road and Ashburn Road.
Residents travelling to the Maranoa Archers Association will still be able to enter the grounds through Short Street, via the Miscamble Street East intersection.
