There’s been a very lucky escape for four people off Wellington Point after the catamaran they were in capsized.

Police say all four, 2 adults and 2 children, are extremely lucky to have caped unharmed as none of the occupants were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.

Police are urging all Boaties to make sure they vest up.

Meantime on our roads Day One of the Easter Break has seen Police concern about drink driving take precedence.

Late yesterday a 58-year- old man returned a positive roadside breath test (RBT) after being stopped in his vehicle by police on Redbank Plains Road at Redbank Plains.

He was transported to Goodna Police Station where he allegedly recorded a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of .309%, more than six times the legal limit.

Meanwhile in Heatley a 21-year- old man was intercepted by police after they witnessed him almost falling off his pushbike while riding down the middle of a Street. He allegedly returned a BAC of .216%, over five times the limit.

Other high-range alcohol readings on Day 1 of the Easter Break campaign include:

• 0.270% by a 41-year-old man at Inskip;

• 0.240% by a 43-year-old man on Kooringal Esplanade at Kooringal;

• 0.220% by a 34-year-old woman on Vienna Road at Alexandra Hills;

Police are also investigating following that fatal traffic crash involving a fuel tanker and a car west of Cloncurry.

Preliminary investigations show the car and tanker collided head-on along the Barkly Highway, resulting in a fire.

Human remains have been in the burnt-out fuel tanker which will need to be forensically examined in order for formal identification of the occupant to occur.

The 48-year- old male driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

The Easter Break phase of the Road Safety Campaign will continue until Monday April 2, 2018.
