Physicist Professor Stephen Hawking — has died at the age of 76 after a long struggle with motor neurone disease.
His children Lucy, Robert and Tim said in a statement have made the announcement a short time ago.
“We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.”
The wheelchair-bound genius lived decades longer than predicted, diagnosed with the disease, and given just five years to live at age 21.
Peers and leaders say his thoughts opened new horizons for humanity.
He married Jane Wilde, with whom he had three children.
He will be remembered for many things in the scientific community but for most of us it’s his ground-breaking work on the origins of the universe, space and time and black holes…and his sense of humour.
VALE – Stephen Hawking.
