Veterans’ Memorial Grants Program Announced

$1.5 million in funding has been announced by the State Government to continue a veterans’ memorial program and for further funding to support veterans.

Applications will open by the end of the month, with the first round to close on 10 March 2019.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says she is encouraging veterans’ groups and other eligible community organisations to apply for grants up to $30 000 (exclusive GST) to create or conserve a lasting legacy for future generations.

“One hundred years on from the Armistice, our communities are still remembering the enormity of the sacrifice of the 57,705 Queenslanders who enlisted in WW1 and continue to pay tribute to them in their own special way.”

“This new grants program is for communities wishing to honour their war heroes by constructing or restoring a public monument or memorial.”

$1.2 million of the funding will go towards the Queensland Veterans’ Memorial Grants Program and $300,000 for additional services for veterans under the Anzac Day Trust Fund.
