Mayor Tyson Golder is on the hunt – He’s looking for locals who are worthy of carrying the Queens’ Relay Baton across the region as it makes its way towards the Gold coast for next years’ big event.
The Mayor says that if you know someone who deserves the chance to be part of the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, now is the time to put forward nominations.
The Queen’s Baton Relay set to pass through Mitchell and Roma as part of celebrations for GC2018, Maranoa residents have the opportunity to put in their nominations before Monday, 15 May 2017.
Maranoa Mayor Tyson Golder this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

GC2018 is looking for people who have achieved something extraordinary or inspired others to achieve something extraordinary; or have made a significant contribution to either sport, education, the arts, culture, charity or within their community.
If you know someone who has excelled, or aspire to excel athletically or personally; or who has contributed to a fun, friendly, vibrant and inclusive community then they can be nominated.
Nominees must be at least 10 years old as at 25 December 2017; and be Australian citizens or lawfully entitled to reside in Australia during the Relay period (25 December 2017 – 4 April 2018).
